“We are equally born as human and every human should be treated with respect regardless of who they are.”
As a senior student majoring in Economics, I am aware of the human rights and human trafficking in Thailand. Thailand is one of the developing countries with high economic growth, but we are still wrestling with these issues. These problems are not only social, but also economic. Our economy and labor market depends a great deal on migrant labor, yet we still treat them poorly.
We are known for being a land of smiles, yet many migrant workers are shunned. In my point of view, migrant workers are our friends; they contribute to our economy and enable our country to have enough supply of labor. Therefore, it is important to maintain good relationships with them. My motivation to join this program is to experience real-world situations. I’d also like to pursue my study in Human Rights study and work with non-profit organization. I believe that the experience from this program will help me realise these ambitions.
